Jean's Birthday Watch, 1972

Beatrice appreciated fine time pieces and gave a watch that needed repair to Jean.  When the watch was not repaired in time for her birthday, Gramps wrote the following:


A birthday watch -- not new --

Right now is being fixed for you. 

In several weeks it will be ready

to measure time in beats quite steady. 

This watch helps make a birthday Queenie

Now you shan't be a timeless Jeannie.

North Dakota

 We moved to North Dakota in 1946.  I told my brother that this state had an opportunity to cut up the land and sell it to other states to use as landing strips.  I wonder what he thought of me.
